Beaverhead National Forest – Cities: Dillon, Lima, Wise River, Wisdom, Red Rock
Bitterroot National Forest – Cities: Anaconda, Hamilton, Corvalis, Lolo, Missoula
Custer National Forest – Cities: Red Lodge, Ashland & Camp Crook, South Dakota
Deerlodge National Forest – Spans though these counties: Granite, Powell, Jefferson, Deer Lodge, Silver Bow, Madison, Gallatin and Beaverhead
Flathead National Forest – bordered by Glacier National Park to the north and east, Lolo National Forest to the south, the Kootenai National Forest to the west, the Lewis and Clark National Forest to the east and a wee bit of it at the northern end borders Canada. Flathead, Glacier, Pondera, Teton, Lewis & Clark, Powel and Lake counties.
Gallatin National Forest – Big Timber, Bozeman, Livingston, Gardiner Ranger Districts, and includes areas around Big Timber, Livingston, Gardiner, and Cooke City, Absaroka, Bridger, Crazy mountain ranges, Hebgen Lake Ranger Districts including the Bridger and Gallatin mountain ranges and national forest lands south to West Yellowstone.
Helena National Forest - Concentrated in Helena
Kootenai National Forest – Extreme Northwest corner of Montana, bordering Idaho & Canada
Lewis and Clark National Forest – Spans completely/partially over thirteen counties. Is split into two divisions, East & West. The Jefferson Division or Eastern half lies to the east and south of Great Falls and is surrounded by private and other federal and state lands. The Rocky Mountain Division or western half extends south of Glacier Park and east from the Continental Divide.
Lolo National
Forest – Up to Thomson Falls to south of Missoula including Seely Lake
